"Sleepy Time Spell" is the first segment of the seventh episode of the first season of Sofia the First: Royal Magic, and the twelfth episode overall. It premiered on May 25, 2026 alongside "Zane the Hero".[1]
Overview
At a sleepover at Sofia's castle with Camila and Layla, stuffies magically come to life.
Plot
Layla, Nadia, and Kareem arrive at Enchancia Castle, and Layla states that she's excited for her first sleepover, although she'll sleep in a bed that isn't hers for the first time. Since Layla is nervous, Nadia brings her some stuffies named Bella, Winston, and Sir Squeaky. Sofia, Miranda, and Roland arrive, followed by Camila. Roland calls Layla and Camila magical, and Sofia leads them to the castle.
Once at her room, Sofia reveals that Baileywick set up beds for Layla and Camila so they can all sleep in the same room. Layla states that although her bed is different than her own, her stuffies will make her feel right at home. Clover then appears and gets the slumber party started. Sofia, Layla, and Camila engage in different activities, like pillow hopping, serving cupcakes, a hair makeover, and a dance party. Miranda then tells them that it's time for bed. However, they can continue in the morning, as Roland and Miranda have an important royal visit.
Sofia, Layla, and Camila head in their beds and go to sleep. However, Layla is unable to go to sleep, and Sofia tells her if she's okay. Layla claims she's just trying to get comfy, but is unable to do so. Later, after seeing Camila use a magic spell, Layla decides to do the same to help her fall asleep, and finds a sleepy time spell. Layla recites the spell, but says "come alive now" instead of "come lie down", and points her wand at the stuffies, making them come to life.
While Sofia and Camila are still sleeping, Sir Squeaky picks up an object and drops it, but Layla catches it. As Sir Squeaky bounces away, Bella uses another toy to comb at Layla, who stops it from combing Clover's hair with it. At the time, Winston and Sir Squeaky are bouncing on Sofia's bed. Layla tries to stop them but wakes up Sofia in the process. Clover soon wakes up, and the stuffies leave the room with Layla giving chase and waking up Camila in the process. Sofia tells Camila about what happened, and they follow the stuffies with Layla while having wands.
Layla tells Sofia about waking up the stuffies by saying the words wrong. Sofia, Layla, and Camila hear the stuffies making mischief, and Layla knows that they ran off in different directions. Sofia decides for them to split up to find the stuffies. Camila goes after Sir Squeaky, who swings on the chandelier. Camila uses the "Undoosio" spell to make it normal again. Sofia catches up with Winston in the throne room and turns it back to normal. Meanwhile, Layla is going after Bella, who heads in the closet, and informs Sofia and Camila of such. Sofia knows that it is her parents' room, and decides for her, Layla, and Camila to sneak in there very quietly to get Bella before it wakes Roland and Miranda up.
Heading in the room, they spot Bella with Roland's crown. Layla goes to get Bella, but trips on a suit of armor which falls, tripping Layla, and causing the armor's helmet to catch Bella. All of this wakes up Roland, and the crown falls on his head. Layla apologizes for waking Sofia's parents up, and Miranda states that she and Roland are used to not getting a lot of sleep. When asked what's wrong, Layla runs away, and Sofia follows. Meanwhile, Camila decides to take care of Bella and leaves the room. Roland and Miranda assume that it's better than James's last sleepover.
In her room, Sofia tells Layla if she's okay, and Layla recaps what happened. Sofia still doesn't understand what's going on, and Layla doesn't want to reveal why she cast the spell. Sofia tells Layla that she's her friend and persuades her to open up about it. Layla tells Sofia about her nervousness of her first sleepover and her attempt to cast a spell to make her fall asleep going wrong due to saying the wrong words, waking up the stuffies. Sofia knows that it can be tough falling asleep in a new place, and in her first night in the castle, she slept in the window seat. Now, Sofia can help Layla fall asleep. Camila soon arrives with the stuffies back to normal, and she and Sofia place Layla on her bed.
Layla reveals that at home, she usually has some tea before bed and Nadia sings her a lullaby. Sofia gets the tea, which Layla drinks, and she and Camila sing their own lullaby, recapping what they went through in their sleepover, leading to Layla sleeping. Camila and Sofia then head to bed while Clover keeps an eye on the stuffies.
