Layla is a character of Sofia the First: Royal Magic. She is the recently-crowned princess of Mezzouk, after her father was crowned king of the kingdom. She attends the Charmswell School and is in Castle Merryweather.
Background
Princess Layla was born into nobility. Her father was a duke before unexpectedly he became king only a week before she starts attending Charmswell. At the same time, his wife and Layla's mother became queen.
Personality
Layla is very fastidious, hard-working, smart, and athletic. She wants to get everything right the first time. She has a tendency to get overly anxious and has a lot of self doubt when she gets things wrong.
Physical Appearance
Princess Layla is a young princess with a tan skin complexion, dark brown hair, and eyes. She has braids decorated with red and blue hair ties at the front of her shoulder-length hair. On top of her head, she wears a golden tiara adorned by red and blue jewels. Her gown sports a pink undershirt and coat with a golden trim. Her overshirt and skirt is dark pink with golden embroidery. Around her waist, she wears a golden belt with jewels. She wears an armband around her right bicep. Around her left wrist, she wears her magical bracelet.
Powers and Abilities
With her magic bracelet, Layla has the ability to summon magical butterfly wings and fly around in the air. Layla is also very good at Enchanted gardening. Although she is not as good at casting spells as her friends at first, she eventually learns some basics.

- Layla shares many similarities with Sofia:
- Both became princesses after one of their parents was crowned. Sofia became a princess when her mother Miranda married King Roland; while Layla became a princess after her father was crowned king.
- Both were nervous and insecure about how to act like a princess.
- Both started royal school shortly after their coronations.
- Both received jewerly that gives them magical powers from their respective parents after becoming royality. Sofia received from her stepfather Roland the Amulet of Avalor, which grants her magical abilities and/or curses her according to her deeds; while Layla received from her mother a golden butterfly bracelet that summons magical butterfly wings that allow her to fly.
- According to Craig Gerber, Layla's father was already nobility before becoming King.
