Below is a transcribed copy of the Sofia the First episode "Enchanted Science Fair".
| Speaker | Dialogue |
|---|---|
| Flora | Class, we've spent all year learning enchanted science, and now it's time to put your knowledge to the test. |
| Fauna | We are having an Enchanted Science Fair. Everyone will be making projects and displaying them for the other students and your parents. |
| Prince Desmond | What kind of projects? |
| Flora | I'm glad you asked, Desmond. Last year, the winning team... |
| Merryweather | Made an enchanted prism. |
| Class | Oh! |
| Fauna | You'll be working in teams of two and the winning team will get this lovely trophy. |
| Flora | Now for the teams. Amber, you and Desmond will work together on a project. |
| Princess Amber | Yes! With your brains and my flair for performance, we can't lose! |
| Fauna | Vivian and Khalid. |
| Prince Khalid | We're gonna win. Right, Vivian? |
| Princess Vivian | We might. Then again, we might not, but hopefully we will. |
| Flora | Sofia and James. |
| Princess Sofia and Prince James | Nice! |
| Prince James | I don't care what project we make, as long as it explodes. |
| King Roland II | Project? What kind of project? |
| Princess Sofia | For the Enchanted Science Fair. |
| Princess Amber | Our friends are coming over to work on our projects. We have Enchanted Science books, don't we? |
| King Roland II | Do we ever. Now where is it? Aha! Enchanted Science was my favorite subject. I entered the fair every year. But I never won. One year, I tried making a floating model of the entire solar system. |
| Princess Sofia | That sounds amazing. |
| King Roland II | It would have been. It was too big a project for my partner and me to finish in time. I always wanted to win that trophy. |
| Prince James | But you won all these other ones. |
| King Roland II | Yes. But never the Enchanted Science Fair. All the books you'll need are right here. And who knows, maybe one of you will bring home the trophy this year. |
| Princess Amber | I will, Daddy. |
| King Roland II | Just try your best. I'm going to tell your mother about the fair. I can't wait to see what you all do. |
| Prince James | We got to win this, Sofia, for Dad. |
| Princess Amber | Yes, he'll be so proud when I bring home the trophy. |
| Prince James | Aw, none of these projects have anything that explodes. |
| Princess Vivian | We could make a thermometer flute or a whalesong translator or-- |
| Prince Khalid | Ooh, how about glowing glaze? It makes anything light up like a candle. |
| Princess Vivian | Sounds good. |
| Prince Desmond | What about-- |
| Princess Amber | Not flashy enough. |
| Prince Desmond | Then maybe-- |
| Princess Amber | Next. |
| Prince Desmond | We could-- |
| Princess Amber | Here. Lightning in a bottle. Let's get started. |
| Princess Sofia | Ooh, look at this. Forever bubbles. They never pop and they're strong enough to lift anything off the ground. |
| Prince James | Like a cannon? |
| Princess Sofia | Uh, I guess. |
| Prince James | Then let's do it. |
| Princess Sofia | Okay. We just need to get all these magical ingredients. |
| Prince James | Ooh. Where are we gonna get all that stuff? |
| Princess Sofia | I have an idea. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Ooh, Wormy, 12 hours of potion making, and I am one drop of griffin sweat away from getting the power to turn toadstools into tornadoes! Huh? Children, what are you doing here? And why are there so many of you? |
| Princess Sofia | Hi, Mr. Cedric. We need ingredients for our science project. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | You have come to the greatest sorcerer in the world for school supplies? |
| Princess Amber | No. We came to you. |
| Princess Sofia | The greatest sorcerer in the universe. Who else would have all the ingredients we need? |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Well, yes. Good point. What is it you require? |
| Prince Desmond | Gargoyle oil. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Premium grade. |
| Prince James | Birch bark. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | It doesn't grow on trees, you know. |
| Prince Khalid | Crocodile tears. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Very hard to find the real thing. |
| Princess Sofia | And Hocus Crocus. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Hocus Crocus? |
| Princess Vivian | We need some of that, too. |
| Prince Desmond | So do we. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | It's the rarest magical flower in all Enchancia and the most powerful. This one jar is all I have. Ooh! |
| Princess Amber | Thank you, Cedric. |
| Princess Sofia | Yes, thanks. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Oh, do be careful with that Hocus Crocus. It is extremely potent-- Hmm, remind me to get a lock for that door. |
| Princess Amber | Is it working? Oh. We need more lightning. Let's put in more Hocus Crocus. |
| Prince James | Hey, we were using that. |
| Prince Desmond | Amber, the book says a pinch of Hocus Crocus. That was at least 12⅔ pinches. |
| Princess Amber | That's more like it. |
| Prince Desmond | Uh-oh. |
| Prince James | Oh! |
| Princess Vivian | Oh! |
| Princess Amber | Ah! |
| Princess Sofia | Looks like we have to start our projects all over again. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | There you are, take it. |
| Princess Amber | But what about the Hocus Crocus? |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | You already took it all, remember? |
| Princess Sofia | Well, is there anywhere else we can get more? |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | There is only one place to find Hocus Crocus. At the top of Mist Bowl Mountain, a single Hocus Crocus flower grows. It should be enough for one of your little projects. |
| Princess Sofia | Just one? |
| Princess Amber | And that project will be ours. Come on, Desmond. |
| Prince Khalid | We can't let them get it, Vivian. |
| Prince James | The race is on. Let's go, Sof. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Oh, good luck. Have fun. And watch out for the ogre. |
| Princess Amber | Coachman, please take us to Mist Bowl Mountain. |
| Prince Desmond | Maybe we should let someone else get the Hocus Crocus and choose another project, Amber. |
| Princess Amber | Let the others change projects. I have to win the trophy for Daddy. Coachman, go. |
| Prince Khalid | Coachman, follow them! |
| Prince James | Faster. We have to catch them. |
| Princess Sofia | Oh! |
| Prince James | Yes! |
| Prince Khalid | No! |
| Princess Amber | Coachman, don't let them get ahead. |
| Coachman | Sorry, Princess, this carriage is only one horsepower. That one's two. |
| Prince James | Oh, yeah. We're in the lead now. |
| Princess Sofia | James, what are you doing? |
| Prince James | Making sure we stay in the lead. |
| Princess Amber and Prince Desmond | Whoa! |
| Princess Sofia | You're not being very nice. |
| Prince James | Amber racing off without us wasn't nice. Slowing her down with carrots is brilliant. |
| Princess Sofia | James, please, they're our friends. |
| Prince James | Come on, Sofia. Do you want to get that trophy for Dad or not? You saw how much it meant to him. |
| Princess Sofia | Well, yes, but-- |
| Prince James | Then we have to make the best project. And to do that, we need the Hocus Crocus. |
| Princess Amber | James! |
| Coachman | We have a bit of a problem, Your Majesties. |
| Princess Sofia | Hmm? |
| Coachman | I'm afraid we can't land on the mountain peak. It's too steep. |
| Prince James | Then we'll have to land at the bottom and hike up. Here come Khalid and Vivian. We have to hurry. |
| Coachman | The trail starts right there. Allow me to escort you. |
| Prince James | No time for that. |
| Coachman | But the king told me to look after you. |
| Man | Prince Khalid, please, wait for me. |
| Princess Sofia | Oh, the crystal forest. How beautiful. |
| Prince James | We're not here to sight see. Come on! |
| Princess Sofia | James. |
| Prince James | What is it? |
| Princess Sofia | Shh. These trees are really fragile. We better be more quiet or we'll break them. |
| Prince James | Okay. |
| Princess Amber | Hurry, Desmond. |
| Coachman | Princess Amber, wait. |
| Princess Vivian | That's right. Nice and quiet. |
| Princess Amber | Coming through! |
| Prince Desmond | Sorry. |
| Princess Vivian | Slow down, you're being too loud. |
| Prince Desmond | Sorry. |
| Princess Sofia | Look, James, we're almost out of the forest. |
| Prince James | Finally. |
| Princess Amber | Excuse us, pardon us. |
| Prince James | Hey! |
| Prince Desmond | Sorry. Sorry. |
| Princess Sofia | They were too loud. The tree is cracking. |
| Prince James | Great. Now what do we do? |
| Princess Sofia | I think we can go around it. If we're careful. |
| Prince Desmond | This is the path to the top. |
| Princess Amber | Better make sure no one else knows that. Hocus Crocus, here we come. |
| Princess Vivian | Oh, no. We're stuck. Unless we could try climbing over it or maybe we should just turn back. |
| Prince Khalid | Let's go around it. |
| Princess Sofia | Looks like we go this way. Come on, James. |
| Prince James | Yeah, I'll be right there. Brilliant. Sofia, wait up. |
| Princess Vivian | Do we have to run the whole way? |
| Prince Khalid | We have to catch up to them, Vivian. |
| Princess Vivian | Oh, okay. |
| Princess Sofia | Huh? I don't understand. The sign pointed this way to get to the top. |
| Prince James | Amber must have switched the sign on us. |
| Princess Sofia | No. Who would do something like that? |
| Prince James | Only Amber, I guess. |
| Princess Sofia | Hmm, don't you think all this racing is making everyone kind of mean? |
| Prince James | I think we need to get the Hocus Crocus if we want to win the fair. Let's go back and try the other path. |
| Princess Sofia | Okay. |
| Princess Amber | Uh, what are those things? |
| Prince Desmond | Musical mist geysers. We better watch out. You never know when they're gonna blow. |
| Princess Amber | But there is the peak. The Hocus Crocus is so close. |
| Prince Desmond | Maybe there is a way around them. |
| Princess Amber | Oh, who's afraid of a little mist? Oh! Aah! |
| Prince Desmond | This way. |
| Prince Khalid | There they are. We can still catch them. |
| Princess Vivian | How do we know when these geysers are going to erupt? |
| Prince Khalid | We don't. We just have to go. |
| Prince James | The other teams aren't that far ahead of us. Let's go. This might be harder than I thought. |
| Princess Sofia | Wait, James. |
| Prince James | Wait for what? |
| Princess Sofia | There is a pattern to the geysers, like a song. Here it? |
| Prince James | You're right. |
| Princess Sofia | If we hum the song, we'll know when the geysers will erupt. |
| Prince James | And how to get around them. |
| Princess Sofia | Exactly. Follow me. |
| Princess Vivian and Prince Khalid | Oh! |
| Princess Sofia | Oh, Vivian. There is a pattern. Listen to the sound they make. |
| Princess Vivian | Thanks, Sofia. |
| Prince James | What are you doing? Don't help them. |
| Princess Sofia | Why not? Just because we're all trying to get the Hocus Crocus doesn't mean we can't be nice. |
| Prince James | Come on, we're almost there. |
| Princess Vivian | She's right. It's a song, Khalid. |
| Prince Khalid | Yeah. |
| Princess Amber | Why is everyone getting ahead of us? |
| Princess Vivian | It's a song. |
| Prince Khalid | Shh. |
| Princess Amber | Let's follow them. |
| Prince Desmond | Good idea. |
| Prince James | All right, nothing can stop us from getting the Hocus Crocus now. |
| Princess Sofia and Prince James | Whoa! Ogre! |
| Crankle the Ogre | I am the Ogre of Mist Bowl Mountain, protector of the precious Hocus Crocus, and-- And... oh, yeah. None shall pass, unless you solve my riddle. |
| Prince James | Oh, I'm really bad at riddles. How about I give you a peppermint instead? |
| Crankle the Ogre | Peppermint? Well, that does look tasty. Wait here. No, can't do it. Section 10, paragraph 1 of the ogre handbook, no substitutes for solving the riddle. |
| Princess Sofia | Okay, then, Mr. Ogre. What's your riddle? |
| Crankle the Ogre | Ah, the riddle. Hmm. Hold on. Ah. What's more valuable than gold, but doesn't cost a penny? It's hard to find, but easy to lose. |
| Princess Sofia | Hmm. |
| Prince James | Oh, I know. A sock. |
| Crankle the Ogre | A sock?! Really?! That's your best guess?! |
| Prince James | I lose socks all the time and I never find them. |
| Crankle the Ogre | Well, it's not a sock. |
| Prince Khalid | What's not a sock? |
| Princess Sofia | The answer to the ogre's riddle. |
| Princess Vivian | Ogre? |
| Crankle the Ogre | Yes. We've been through all this. I am an ogre, this is my riddle. What is more valuable than gold, but doesn't cost a penny? It's hard to find, but easy to lose. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? |
| Prince Khalid | Ooh! |
| Prince James | It's not a sock. |
| Prince Khalid | Oh. |
| Princess Sofia | I've got it. Is it a friend? |
| Crankle the Ogre | A friend? Ha! Wait. Yes. It is a friend. |
| Prince James | Good job, Sofia. |
| Prince Khalid | I don't get it. |
| Princess Sofia | A friend is worth more than gold, but costs nothing. And a good friend can be hard to find. And they're easy to lose, if you don't treat them right. |
| Crankle the Ogre | You may pass. |
| Princess Sofia | Thank you, Mr. Ogre. |
| Crankle the Ogre | Just her, not you. And especially not you. A sock. Really? |
| Princess Sofia | The Hocus Crocus. There. Oh, no! |
| Princess Amber | Oh, ogre. |
| Crankle the Ogre | Yes, I am an ogre. Deal with it. Here's my riddle. What is more valuable than gold, but doesn't cost a penny? It's hard to find, but easy to lose. |
| Prince Desmond | Is it a friend? |
| Crankle the Ogre | No. Actually, yes. Riddle must be easier than I thought. Right, you may pass. |
| Prince Khalid | It's the Hocus Crocus. |
| Princess Amber | Did you say Hocus Crocus? |
| Prince Khalid | Run, Vivian. |
| Princess Amber | Desmond, Khalid has the Hocus Crocus. |
| Prince Desmond | He does? How? |
| Princess Vivian | Here we go again. |
| Princess Sofia | James, the wind blew away the Hocus Crocus. |
| Prince James | I know. Khalid has it. Come on. |
| Crankle the Ogre | Oh, kids. |
| Prince Khalid | Come on, Vivian. What are you waiting for? |
| Princess Vivian | Khalid, watch out for the-- |
| Prince Khalid | Oh. |
| Princess Amber | It's mine. |
| Prince James | Give it back, Amber. Sofia was the one who got it. |
| Princess Amber | And I'm the one who has it now. Desmond, help me. |
| Princess Sofia | Everybody just stop, please. |
| Prince James | It's ours! |
| Princess Sofia | Stop fighting! |
| Princess Amber | Give it back! James! It's gone. |
| Prince Khalid | Thanks to you, Amber. |
| Prince James | You were the one who ran off with it, Khalid. |
| Princess Vivian | Amber started it. |
| Princess Sofia | But none of us stopped it. And now, none of us have the Hocus Crocus. |
| Prince Desmond | So what do we do now? |
| Princess Sofia | We go home, I guess. |
| Queen Miranda | Oh, good. You're back. Your father told me you were working on your Enchanted Science Projects. How is it going? |
| Princess Amber | Horribly. We lost the one ingredient we all need. |
| Prince James | There is no way we're gonna win the fair now. |
| Queen Miranda | Well, why not? You can choose new projects, can't you? |
| Princess Amber | But we hardly have any time and we don't have any Hocus Crocus. |
| Princess Sofia | Maybe there is a project that doesn't need Hocus Crocus. |
| Queen Miranda | Oh, what about the floating solar system your father has been going on and on about? |
| Prince James | Oh, yeah. That did seem pretty brilliant. |
| Queen Miranda | Well, whatever projects you choose, I'm sure they'll be great. Good luck. |
| Prince Desmond | Amber, we don't need Hocus Crocus to make the solar system. |
| Princess Amber | But Daddy said it was too big a project for two people. |
| Princess Sofia | What if all six of us work on it together? |
| Prince Khalid | But we were put in teams of two, Sofia. |
| Princess Sofia | And each team can do one part of the project. |
| Prince Desmond | To be honest, I'm not sure we can work together anymore. |
| Princess Vivian | I kind of agree. |
| Prince James | So do I. |
| Princess Amber | They're right, Sofia. |
| Princess Sofia | Wait. Don't go. We were all friends before we went looking for the Hocus Crocus. And the only way to win the Science Fair is to start acting like friends again.
