Below is a transcribed copy of the Sofia the First episode "The Shy Princess".
| Flora: | All right, class. It's time to finish up your paintings! We've been so lucky to have such a majestic model pose for us today. |
|---|---|
| Sofia: | [painting a picture of Minimus] Looking good, Minimus. Maybe just hold your head up a little bit higher. |
| Minimus: | Oh, Sofia, I don't know why anyone would want to paint me. I'm not very tall, my mane needs a trim. I've been hitting the oat bank pretty hard lately, too. |
| Sofia: | [giggles] Oh, Minimus. |
| Amber: | What's so funny? |
| Sofia: | Oh, nothing. |
| Flora: | Lovely work, children. Just lovely. |
| Fauna: | I think that will do, Sir Gillium. Thank you, Minimus. (giggles) Good boy. |
| Minimus: | [sighs] How did I do? |
| Sofia: | You were great, Minimus. |
| Minimus: | Oh, I must be having a good mane day. |
| Flora: | Now let's move on to our next art project: building your very own dream castle. |
| All: | Ahh. |
| Flora: | Think about what you would want in your perfect castle... |
| Merryweather: | It could be anything and everything! Let your imaginations run free! |
| Flora: | Then you'll build a model of your dream castle, and- |
| Merryweather: | And bring it into class... |
| Flora: | For show-and-tell. And because this is such a... |
| Merryweather: | Big project... |
| Fauna: | We're going to pair you up! Because working with others makes everything more fun. Now our partners will be... Uh-oh, dear. Where did I put my glasses? Oh! Thank you, Flora. All right. [clears throat] Hildegard and Amber. |
| Hildegard and Amber: | Perfect! |
| Fauna: | James and Zandar. Clio and Hugo. |
| Clio: | [sighs] |
| Fauna: | Jun and Rupert. And finally, Sofia and Vivian. |
| Sofia: | Princess Vivian? Who's that? |
| Amber: | Uh oh. [giggling] She's in the back. |
| Hildegard: | Probably hiding behind her easel. |
| Far back in the room is a very shy-looking princess hiding behind her easel. Sofia approaches. | |
| Sofia: | Vivian? Hi. Oh. Vivian? Hi, I don't think we've really met before. I'm Sofia. |
| Vivian: | Hi, Sofia. |
| Sofia: | So, do you wanna come over to my castle to work on the project? |
| Vivian: | Um, well, no, I don't think so. |
| Sofia: | I could go to your castle instead. |
| Vivian: | Well, I guess we have to work on the project somewhere. |
| Sofia: | Great! How about this afternoon? |
| Vivian: | Today? Okay, sure. I gotta go. Bye. |
| Sofia: | See you later. |
| Amber: | Sorry you got stuck with Vivian, Sofia. She is... strange. |
| Hildegard: | It's true. I've heard that her parents are gnomes. And she lives in a cave full of glow-in-the-dark bats. |
| Amber: | I heard she has a pet dragon. |
| Sofia: | Really? How do you know that's true? |
| Amber: | Well, we don't for sure. |
| Clio: | Because Vivian never talks to anyone. |
| Amber: | And no one has ever been to her castle. Good luck, Sofia. |
| Sofia: | Hey! Are you guys working on your dream castle? |
| Zandar: | Yup. We're not sure what we're going to make yet... |
| James: | But whatever it is, it's going to be really, really huge. |
| Zandar: | And when we're done, we're going to knock it all down! |
| James: | Brilliant! |
| Miranda: | Oh, Sofia, there you are. |
| Sofia: | Here I am. |
| Miranda: | I've been looking everywhere for you. The coach is waiting to take you to Vivian's. |
| Sofia: | I know. But I think James and Zandar need me. Right, guys? |
| James: | Nope. |
| Zandar: | We're good. |
| Sofia: | Okay. I guess I'm ready to go then. |
| James: | Whatever we do, our castle has to have a cannon. |
| Zandar: | A big one. |
| Miranda: | So, is there a reason you don't want to go to Vivian's? |
| Sofia: | How did you know? |
| Miranda: | Because moms know everything. |
| Sofia: | Well, everyone at school says Vivian is strange. |
| Miranda: | Hmm. Why do they say that? |
| Sofia: | I don't know. No one really knows her. |
| Miranda: | Well, have you tried talking to her? |
| Sofia: | Mmm-hmm. But she barely said a word. |
| Miranda: | Hmm. Well, you're not going to know what Vivian's like until you get to know her better. |
| Sofia: | Maybe you're right, Mom. |
| Miranda: | I'm glad we agree. Now go on and get your things. You don't want to be late. |
| Sofia: | Okay. |
| Sofia: | What do you even bring to a castle that's full of bats and gnomes? |
| Robin: | An escape plan? |
| Clover: | What you need is some back-up, Princess. I'll go with you. |
| Robin: | Do you know how little you are? |
| Mia: | And how soft and fluffy you are? |
| Clover: | Hey! There's a lot of toughness crammed into this soft, fluffy package, missy! |
| Sofia: | Thank you, Clover. I really would feel better if your toughness came with me. |
| Clover: | Yeah... |
| Robin: | Just don't let the bats and gnomes scratch Clover behind the ears. |
| Coachman: | Whoa! |
| Sofia: | Here we go. |
| Clover: | Don't worry, Princess. I got your back. |
| Sofia: | Wow. This is definitely not a cave. |
| Clover: | [gasps] Here come the gnomes! Ahh! |
| Cecily: | Welcome, Sofia. I'm Cecily, Vivian's mother. |
| Sofia: | Hi. |
| Cecily: | We're so delighted you're here. |
| Sofia: | You're not a gnome. |
| Cecily: | What was that, dear? |
| Sofia: | I said... you have a lovely home. |
| Cecily: | Oh, thank you. Vivian. Why don't you show Sofia your room? |
| Vivian: | Okay, Mom. Follow me, Sofia. |
| Clover: | What are those? |
| Sofia: | They're just statues, Clover. I hope. Clover, you can relax now. No cave. No bats. No gnomes. I don't think any of those stories are true. |
| Clover: | Okay. |
| Sofia: | [gasps] |
| Vivian: | What's that? |
| Sofia: | Oh! It's just my pet rabbit. I hope it's okay that I brought him. |
| Vivian: | Sure. I have a pet, too. |
| Sofia: | What kind of pet? |
| Vivian: | A dragon. |
| Sofia and Clover: | A dragon? |

| Vivian: | Thanks! |
| Sofia: | I'm sorry if I was acting a little nervous before. I was, well... |
| Vivian: | Afraid to come over here? |
| Sofia: | No... Not at all. Maybe a little. The girls at school told me some stories... |
| Vivian: | About the gnomes and the bats and the caves and the strange noises? |
| Sofia: | Just the gnomes and the bats. How did you know? |
| Vivian: | I've heard pretty much all the stories. They don't even realize I'm standing right next to them when they're talking about me. |
| Sofia: | If you know they're making up stories, why don't you tell them the truth? |
| Vivian: | Well, I, um... See, I have a hard time talking to new people. I guess I'm a little... |
| Sofia: | Shy? |
| Vivian: | Yeah. |
| Sofia: | That's okay. I understand. So, should we get to work on our dream castle? |
| Vivian: | Yes, great idea. We can work in my room. Come on in. |
| Sofia: | Clover, why don't you and Crackle get to know one another while Vivian and I work on our dream castle? Great! See you soon. |
| Crackle: | '[sniffing] Hi! |

| Sofia: | Let's see... If I could put anything in the world in our castle, I'd choose a sorcerer's workshop for sure, and a butterfly garden and a huge stable for flying horses. How about you? What do you want to put in our castle? |
| Vivian: | Oh, well... Um... Well, maybe... |
| Sofia: | Hey! What if you show me your favorite places in your castle? We can start there. |
| Vivian: | This is my music room. |
| Sofia: | Wow. |
| Vivian: | It's my favorite spot in the castle. Well, really, it's my favorite spot in the world. |
