| Princess Sofia | What kind of dance do you think we'll learn today, Amber? |
| Princess Amber | Oh, more ballet, I hope. Chaîné, chaîné, chaîné, jeté... I meant to do that. |
| Flora | Children, may I have your attention, please? We won't be having dance class today. |
| Princess Amber, Princess Sofia, Princess Maya, Princess Jun, and Princess Hildegard | Aw! |
| Princess Sofia | How come, Miss Flora? |
| Flora | Because instead, you'll be preparing for a very important test. |
| Merryweather | The Princess Test. |
| Princess Sofia | What's the Princess Test? |
| Fauna | The Princess Test is your chance to show us everything you've learned about being a true princess. |
| Princess Jun | Everything? But we've learned so much. |
| Princess Maya | Can you at least give us a hint about what's on the test? |
| Fauna | I'm sorry, but that's all we can tell you. |
| Flora | Except that it will take place right after school. |
| Fauna | Right, but that's it. |
| Merryweather | In the ballroom. |
| Fauna | Right. After school, in the ballroom. And that's all we're saying. |
| Flora | You have the rest of the school day to study. |
| Fauna | Good luck, everyone. |
| Princess Sofia | If we're going to be tested on everything we've learned, maybe we should go to the library and study. |
| Princess Jun | I'll go with you, Sofia. |
| Princess Sofia | Great. Want to come, Amber? Hildegard? |
| Princess Hildegard | Amber and I already know everything about being a princess. |
| Princess Amber | But we should go with them in case they have any questions. |
| Princess Hildegard | Which they will. So, let's go. |
| Princess Jun | Where do we start? |
| Princess Sofia | Let's ask the librarian. Mrs. Higgins? |
| Mrs. Higgins | Hello-odly-odly-odly, dear princesses. |
| Princess Sofia | Hi there, Mrs. Higgins. Can you help us with something? |
| Mrs. Higgins | Why, surely. |
| Princess Sofia | We have an important test today, and we all need to do well. Do you have any books about being a good princess? |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh, yes. I have a whole wall of 'em. |
| Princess Sofia and Princess Jun | Wow! |
| Princess Hildegard | I hope you can read fast. |
| Mrs. Higgins | These two are my favorites. |
| Princess Sofia | Thanks, Mrs. Higgins. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh! Abso-todly-odly-odly! Good luck on the test, ladies. |
| Princess Sofia | Oh. Do they really expect us to know all these things? I mean, "banquet manners"? |
| Princess Amber | Learned those when I was was three. |
| Princess Sofia | "Tea party conversation topics"? |
| Princess Jun | Oh! Oh! I know that! Weather, the news, your dress, my dress, scone recipes, and that's it. |
| Princess Sofia | Okay, then what about, "Correct ways to use a handkerchief"? |
| Princess Hildegard | Oh! Like so. Dab, dab, dab, and blot. |
| Princess Sofia | Oh. So, all of you know everything already. |
| Princess Amber | Oh, not everything. I can only name 138 kingdoms. |
| Princess Hildegard | But Amber, that's all there are. |
| Princess Amber | Hmm. Maybe I do know everything. Huh. |
| Princess Jun | You'll do fine, Sofia. |
| Princess Sofia | But I haven't been a princess very long. There's so much I don't know. |
| Princess Amber | Oh, it's true. But, Sofia, if you want to pass the princess test, I'll show you what really matters. Come with me. |
| Princess Sofia | Uh, okay. |
| Princess Amber | Oh, take it from me, Sofia, this is the most important thing you'll need to know about being a princess. |
| Princess Sofia | How to turn around in a circle really slowly? |
| Princess Amber | No! Your gown, silly! Just make sure it looks gorgeous, like mine, and you'll do fine. |
| Princess Sofia | Oh? That's it? |
| Princess Hildegard | Not quite. Inside this box is the key to being a great princess. My great grandmama always said, "Proper fan-fluttering is the most important part of being a princess." Now, hold it firmly, open it gently, and flutter like so. Watch and learn, ladies. Watch and learn. |
| Princess Maya | And don't forget, every princess has to know how to curtsy. |
| Princess Jun | And dance. One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three. |
| Princess Sofia | Gown, fan, curtsy, dance. Got it! |
| Princess Hildegard | Good. Because it's almost time for the test! |
| Princess Jun | We'd better head over to the ballroom. We don't wanna be late. |
| Princess Amber | We most certainly do not. Come along, ladies. |
| Princess Sofia | I hope I'm ready for the test. |
| Cut to the outside. | |
| Princess Sofia | Gown, fan, curtsy, dance. Gown, fan, curtsy, dance. Gown, fan, curtsy, dance. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Princess Amber. Hello, dear. Can you help me? |
| Princess Amber | Oh, I wish I could, Mrs. Higgins, but the Princess Test is about to start. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh, I understand, dear. Princess Jun, could you help me, please? |
| Princess Jun | I'm sorry, Mrs. Higgins. I want to, but I can't, even though I really want to. So sorry. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh, not to worry, dear. Uh, Princess Hildegard? Excuse me? Princess Hildegard? |
| Princess Sofia | Gown, fan, curtsy, dance. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Princess Sofia? Can you help me, dear? |
| Princess Sofia | What's the matter, Mrs. Higgins? |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh! Well, thank you for stopping. I have to bring these books home, but my wheelbarrow broke, and I can't carry them myself. Would you please help me? |
| Princess Sofia | Um... |
| Mrs. Higgins | I don't live very far. Just down the path a wee bit. Just a wee bit. |
| Princess Sofia | Oh, Mrs. Higgins, [as Royal Prep's bell rings] the Princess Test is starting soon. Oh... But if you live close by, I guess I can help you real quick. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh, well that's every kind of you, dear. Now you take those, and I'll take these. They're a bit heavy. |
| As Sofia carries the books, Amber appears. | |
| Princess Amber | Sofia! Um, where are you going? |
| Princess Sofia | To help Mrs. Higgins. |
| Princess Amber | But what about the Princess Test? |
| Princess Sofia | Mrs. Higgins doesn't live far. I can make it back in time. |
| Princess Amber | Well, you better. Being late is not a good way to start the test. |
| Princess Sofia | Don't worry. I'll see you soon. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Come along, dear. This way! |
| Cut to Sofia and Mrs. Higgins walking down a trail. | |
| Mrs. Higgins | I just love books. I can't wait to get home and start reading. In fact, I'm not going to wait. Oh. "Once upon a time there was a..." [bumps into a tree] Oh! Oops-a-daisy. Roosie-doosie-doosie! Oh, my goodness. [an acorn falls on her] |
| Princess Sofia | Are you okay? |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh, yes, yes. I'm fine. [Sofia gives Mrs. Higgins her book] Now, were did I leave off? "And they all lived happily ever after. The end." Oh, that was fast. |
| Princess Sofia | Mrs. Higgins, maybe you should wait until you get home before you read that. |
| Mrs. Higgins | I suppose you're right. My cottage is just across this bridge. [sees the bridge broken] Huckleberry! The bridge is broken! I don't think we can get around that fallen tree. |
| Princess Sofia | Then how are we going to get to your cottage? |
| Mrs. Higgins | Well, there's another way, but it'll take a bit longer. |
| Princess Sofia | Longer? Um, but that might make me late for the Princess Test. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh, Sofia, dear, I understand if you need to go back. I'll be okay on my own. |
| Princess Sofia | [groans] No. I can't let you carry all these heavy books by yourself, Mrs. Higgins. Lead the way. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh, Sofia, you're such a dear for going out of your way to help me, you know that? All the other princesses just rushed right past me. |
| Cut back to Royal Prep. | |
| Flora | Gather round, girls. The Princess Test will now begin. As you know, a princess meets kings and queens from all around the world. So, let's see how well you know your royal greetings. Princess Hildegard, you're up first. |
| Princess Hildegard | This is going to be so easy. |
| Flora | Now, Hildegard, imagine you're visiting the kingdom of Wei-Ling. How would you greet the emperor? |
| Princess Hildegard | I know this! I would, uh, you know, I would just... And then, I would... I'm sorry. I can't remember! |
| Flora | That's okay, dear. Princess Mae, it's your turn. |
| Princess Hildegard | [angrily] I can't believe I forgot the answer! Amber, I'm going to fail the Princess Test. |
| Princess Amber | Oh, Hildegard, the test is just beginning. I'm sure you'll do better on the next part. |
| Princess Hildegard | But, what if I do worse? [she storms off.] |
| Princess Amber | Hildegard! |
| Princess Maya | Where's Sofia? |
| Princess Amber | She isn't back yet? |
| Princess Jun | Back from where? |
| Cut to Sofia and Mrs. Higgins. | |
| Princess Sofia | Is your cottage far from here? |
| Mrs. Higgins | No, not really. I'll draw you a map. |
| Princess Sofia | Oh, no! You... You don't need to. Okay. |
| Mrs. Higgins | If my cottage is this "X", and we're this circle over here, then just put an "X" here, and an "X" here, and tic-tac-toe, I win! I love a good game. |
| Princess Sofia | [chuckles nervously] Funny. Uh... Maybe we should keep going, Mrs. Higgins? |
| Mrs. Higgins | [chuckling] Yes, indeed. My cottage is just up this way an itsy bit. Let's go. [soon, they come across two rocks.] After you, my dear. |
| Princess Sofia | Thank you. [as she starts to walk, she stops.] Oh, I'm so sorry. A proper princess would've done the polite thing and let you go first. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh, don't be silly. You are a proper princess. |
| Princess Sofia | Not really. At least... I don't always feel that way. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Why, what do you mean? |
| Princess Sofia | I wasn't born a princess. And sometimes, I feel like I have to keep proving I belong.
♪ I study hard |
| Mrs. Higgins | From what I've seen, Sofia, I think you'll make a wonderful princess. |
| Princess Sofia | Thanks, Mrs. Higgins. |
| Cut to Royal Prep, where the other princesses are fan-fluttering. | |
| Merryweather | [to Amber] Very nice fan-fluttering, Princess Amber. [to Jun] Oh, impressive. |
| Meanwhile, Hildegard isn't fanning. | |
| Princess Amber | Hilde, what's going on? Why aren't you fanning? |
| Princess Hildegard | I need to, um, warm up my fingers. One must stretch before one fans. One little piggy, two little piggy, three... |
| Princess Amber | Huh? |
| Princess Hildegard | ...little piggy, four... |
| Princess Amber | Okay, What's really going on? You're the best fan-flutterer in the school. You should be out there fluttering. |
| Princess Hildegard | I know, but what if I mess up again? [sighs] I'm better off not trying at all. [she walks away and sits on a chair.] |
| Princess Amber | We can't let Hildegard miss the rest of the test, or she won't pass. |
| Princess Jun | I know, but what can we do? |
| Cut to Sofia and Mrs. Higgins. | |
| Princess Sofia | Oh, no, it's getting late. The test must be halfway over by now. |
| Mrs. Higgins | We're almost there, dear. Just across this stream a little ways. |
| Princess Sofia | Where's the bridge? |
| Mrs. Higgins | [chuckling] We don't need a bridge. We can just walk across the rocks. |
| Princess Sofia | Walk across the rocks? Uh? [sighs] Okay. Let's go. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Follow me. |
| They walk across the rocks. | |
| Princess Sofia | Just a few more. [As Sofia hops on a rock, she loses her fan.] Oh no! My fan! [she sighs sadly before making to the other side.] Hildegard said fan-fluttering is a huge part of the test. Now I lost my fan and I'm late. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh, well, why don't you go back to your test, dear? I'm sure I can make it [straining] home from here. Oh! [the weight of the books causes her to fall on the ground.] |
| Princess Sofia | Here, Mrs. Higgins. [she helps Mrs. Higgins up.] I said I'd help you get home, so I'm not leaving until we get there. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Aw, are you sure? |
| Princess Sofia | I'm sure. Besides, my gown still looks nice, and my sister said that that's the most important part of the test. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Did she, now? |
| Princess Sofia | Mmm-hmm. So which way to your cottage? |
| Mrs. Higgins | [points to trees] Just through those trees. We're not far. |
| Cut to Royal Prep's ballroom. | |
| Princess Hildegard | I told you I don't want to take the test! Not if I'm going to get everything wrong! |
| Princess Amber | [sighs] Here's the deal. If you take the test, you might mess up again. |
| Princess Jun | Amber. |
| Princess Amber | Or you might do really great. But you definitely won't pass if you get scared and quit. |
| Princess Hildegard | I guess you're right. |
| Princess Amber | [sighs] I always am. |
| Flora | Time to test your posture, ladies. Here's a book for you, and a book for you. There you are. Now, everyone, try to walk to the other side of the ballroom. And remember, stand straight and tall, and the books won't fall. |
| The princesses walk with the books on their heads. | |
| Princess Hildegard | Oh. |
| Princess Amber | Looking good. |
| Flora | Lovely form, everyone. But a princess needs to keep her good posture in all situations. Oh. [she sends cushions on the princesses' paths.] |
| Princess Hildegard | Whoa! |
| Princess Amber | This is hard! |
| Princess Jun | Oh no! |
| Princess Penelope | Hmm! |
| Princess Hildegard | Oh no! I can't do it! |
| Princess Amber | Yes you can! Don't give up, Hilde. Straight and tall. |
| Princess Hildegard | Mm-hmm. |
| Flora | Excellent work, Princess Hildegard! |
| Princess Hildegard | I did it. I did it! [exhales] Thanks for convincing me to give it another try, Amber. |
| Princess Amber | Anytime. |
| Flora | Next up on the Princess Test, the gown presentation. |
| Cut to Mrs. Higgins's cottage. | |
| Princess Sofia | Your cottage! I can see it! It's right... [groaning] There? [sees mud ahead] Across all that mud? Oh! Amber said my gown had to look perfect for the Princess Test. If I get mud on it, I'll fail the test for sure. |
| Mrs. Higgins | The last thing in the world I want is to ruin your chances on the test. I know how important it is to you. You go along now, dear. I can go the rest of the way myself. |
| Princess Sofia | No. [gasps] I know. I'll just hold my dress up. Like this! [she holds it up] Huh, uh. All right, Mrs. Higgins, I'm ready to go. |
| Mrs. Higgins | [laughs] You are quite a young lady. |
| Sofia and Mrs. Higgins walk across the mud. | |
| Princess Sofia | Argh. Be careful. This mud is slippery. |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh! It certainly is. But if we move slowly, we should make it just fine. That's it. We're almost there. Just a few more... [suddenly, she slides, causing her to bump into Sofia; both fall in the mud.] |
| Princess Sofia | Are you okay, Mrs. Higgins? |
| Mrs. Higgins | Oh! Yes, well. A little bit of mud never hurt anyone. |
| Princess Sofia | [gasps] My gown! |
| Mrs. Higgins | Huckleberry! |
| Princess Sofia | [grunts in despair] Now I'll never pass the Princess Test. |
| Mrs. Higgins | [gasps] Oh, I'm so sorry, Sofia. |
| Sofia whimpers; later, she and Mrs. Higgins arrive at the latter's cottage. | |
| Mrs. Higgins | If it makes you feel any better, here we are at my cottage. You know, dear, I couldn't have made it home without you. Thank you, Sofia. |
| Princess Sofia | [sighs] You're welcome. I may not have made it to the Princess Test, but at least we got you home. |
| Mrs. Higgins | [chuckles] Don't give up on that test yet. We may still get you back in time. |
| Princess Sofia | Really? But how? |
| Mrs. Higgins | [chuckles] I know a shortcut. Right this way. |
| Princess Sofia | But I don't understand. This is your cottage. |
| Mrs. Higgins | You'll see. [as Sofia heads inside] You'll see. |
| After Mrs. Higgins signals to Sofia, Sofia looks around. Suddenly, the cottage fades away, and Sofia finds herself back at Royal Prep. | |
| Princess Sofia | What? Huh? |
| Princess Jun | Did you see that? |
| Princess | Mrs. Higgins? |
| Princess Amber | Sofia? Where'd you come from? And what happened to your dress? |
| Princess Sofia | Are we back at school? |
| Mrs. Higgins | Indeed, we are. Welcome to the Princess Test, Sofia. |
| Princess Sofia | But... But how did we get here? Wait. [sees the real Mrs. Higgins] There are two Mrs. Higgins? |
| Mrs. Higgins | No, dear. I'm not really Mrs. Higgins. [she turns herself back to Fauna.] |
| Princess Sofia | Miss Fauna? |
| Princesses | Miss Fauna? |
| Fauna | I used magic to make myself look like Mrs. Higgins. |
| Princess Sofia | So, I was helping you carry those books all this time? |
| Fauna | Yes, you were. |
| Mrs. Higgins | I was here at the school the whole time! [chuckling] |
| Princess Sofia | But why? |
| Fauna | Oh, it was all part of the Princess Test. |
| Princess Sofia | It was? |
| Fauna | Abso-toodly-oodly. |
| Flora | [chuckles] Girls, you are all wonderful princesses. Amber, your curtsies are commendable! |
| Princess Amber | Thank you, Miss Flora. |
| Merryweather | And Jun, your fanning is flawless. |
| Flora | And Hildegard's posture is positively perfect. |
| Princess Hildegard | Thank you so much. |
| Fauna | But, one of the most important things about being a princess is kindness. So, I made myself look like Mrs. Higgins and asked every one of you for help, because a true princess always helps a person in need. |
| Flora | Even if it means giving up something very important to you. |
| Princess Amber, Princess Hildegard, and Princess Jun | Of course! |
| Flora | Now, all you other princesses will get silver stars for the fine job you did here today. |
| All princesses except Sofia are provided silver stars. | |
| Merryweather | But since you, Sofia, were the only princess to stop and help Mrs. Higgins... |
| Fauna | ...it gives us all great joy to announce that you passed the Princess Test with the highest honors. |
| Princess Sofia | I passed? |
| Flora | And because of your excellent work today, we're awarding you a very special trophy. [the fairies award Sofia with the trophy; Sofia gasps.] Oh, congratulations, dear. |
| Princess Sofia | Thank you so much. |
| Princess Jun | Whoo-hoo! Way to go, Sofia! |
| Princess Amber | She learned it all from me. [gasps] Pretty trophy. Can I hold it? |
| Princess Sofia | [chuckles] Oh, Amber. |
| Princess | You did a great job. |
