| Ruby Hanshaw | Sofia, show us one more time! |
| Scene cuts to Sofia, Ruby, and Jade making a friendship knot. | |
| Princess Sofia | Over, down. The rabbit pops up, and there... It's a "Friendship knot." Here. Help me pull it tight. Whoa! |
| Helen blows her whistle offscreeen. | |
| Helen Hanshaw | Gather 'round, Buttercups! |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Hi, Mom! |
| Helen Hanshaw | [as she arrives with Miranda, Meg, and Peg] I want you to meet our troops newest members, Peg and Meg. |
| Meg | I'm Meg, she's Peg. |
| Helen Hanshaw | [chuckles] Sorry about that. |
| Meg | It's okay. Our brother gets us mixed up all the time. |
| Peg | I don't know why. |
| Meg | Me neither. |
| Meg and Peg | We're so different! |
| Helen Hanshaw | You sure are. So let's give Meg and Peg a warm Buttercup welcome. |
| Princess Sofia, Jade, and Ruby Hanshaw | Buttercups, Buttercups, watch us bloom. Buttercups, Buttercups, watch us bloom! |
| Helen Hanshaw | So, who wants to present Meg and Peg with their Buttercup Vests? |
| Princess Sofia | I will, Mrs. Hanshaw. |
| Helen Hanshaw | Thank you, Sofia. |
| Peg | [as Sofia puts the Buttercup Vest on Meg] Oh, I'm so excited. |
| Meg | I'm even more excited. |
| Peg | [As Sofia puts the Buttercup Vest on her] I'm the most excited ever! |
| Princess Sofia | [chuckles] You're Buttercups now! |
| Meg | Thanks. I can't believe there's a princess in our Buttercup troop. |
| Peg | I can't believe we're at the castle. |
| Helen Hanshaw | It was very nice of the Queen to have us over. |
| Queen Miranda | It's my pleasure, Helen. |
| Peg | [sees Sofia's badges on her vest] Hey, what are those? |
| Meg | And why don't we have any? |
| Princess Sofia | They're badges. You have to earn them. |
| Ruby Hanshaw | When you're a Buttercup, you explore the great outdoors and learn new things. |
| Jade | And for every new activity you do, you get a badge which you put on your vest. I got this one for swimming, this one for bird-calling, and this one for unicorn-spotting. |
| Peg | I want to spot unicorns. |
| Helen Hanshaw | And any Buttercup who fills her entire sash with badges earns a special Sunflower Medallion! |
| Meg, Peg, Princess Sofia, Jade, and Ruby Hanshaw | Ooh! |
| Queen Miranda | Mmm! |
| Helen Hanshaw | And tomorrow, you'll all get a chance to earn plenty of badges because we're going on a nature hike through the Pepper Tree Forest! |
| Meg, Peg, Princess Sofia, Jade, and Ruby Hanshaw | Yay! |
| Peg | Ooh! That's where we go sledding in the winter. I love it there! |
| Meg | Not as much as me! |
| Princess Sofia | I can't wait for the hike. I only need one more badge to fill up my vest and get my Sunflower Pin. |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Only one. I still need three. |
| Jade | I need two. |
| Meg | We need... |
| Peg | A lot. |
| Princess Sofia | Don't worry. You'll earn a bunch tomorrow on the hike. |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Time to go, girls! |
| Scene cuts to two horses taking everyone except Sofia and Miranda away. | |
| Meg, Peg, Princess Sofia, Jade, and Ruby Hanshaw | Buttercups, Buttercups, we sure had fun, Buttercups, Buttercups, bye, everyone! |
| Royal fanfare is then heard, signaling the arrival of Roland and Baileywick. | |
| King Roland II | Baileywick, at the next meeting of the knights, let's make it a roundtable. |
| Princess Sofia | Dad! |
| King Roland II | Hello there, Sofia. My my. What's this you're wearing? |
| Princess Sofia | My Buttercup uniform. The Buttercups are hiking through Pepper Tree Forest tomorrow. |
| King Roland II | Now, hold on a moment. I don't know that the forest is a proper place for a princess. |
| Queen Miranda | Oh, she'll be fine. You know, Sofia was a Buttercup before she was a princess. |
| Princess Sofia | And I only need one more badge to get my Sunflower Pin. Please, Dad. |
| King Roland II | But what if something happens to you? |
| Queen Miranda | Ruby's mother will be there. Sofia will be perfectly safe. |
| King Roland II | But she could fall. |
| Queen Miranda | Then I guess she'd have to pick herself up. |
| Baileywick | If I may, Your Majesty, I was a Groundhog Scout as a boy. Exploring the great outdoors gave me skills I use to this very day. I think Princess Sofia would learn a lot by going. |
| King Roland II | That's it! |
| Queen Miranda | What's it? |
| King Roland II | Ha! Baileywick will accompany Sofia. |
| Baileywick | Me? |
| Princess Sofia | Baileywick, Dad? |
| King Roland II | Why, with your Groundhog experience, you're the perfect person to make sure Sofia doesn't get a single scratch. And I mean not a single scratch. |
| Baileywick | Not a one, Your Majesty. |
| Princess Sofia | Dad, I don't need Baileywick. I'll be fine on my own. |
| King Roland II | And you'll be even more fine with Baileywick. I just want to make sure that you're safe and sound. |
| Princess Sofia | Oh. Okay. |
| Baileywick | You'll barely notice I'm there, Princess Sofia. It'll be a wonderful hike, I promise. Groundhog's word. |
| Scene cuts to the outside of Enchancia Castle and its entrance, where Sofia and Miranda prepare to exit. | |
| Queen Miranda | Looks like a perfect day for a hike. |
| Princess Sofia | It sure does. |
| Baileywick | Tallyho! [scene cuts to him with his groundhog uniform.] Good morning, Princess! |
| Princess Sofia | Baileywick? I've never seen you wear an outfit like that before! |
| Baileywick | It's my old groundhog uniform. Isn't it wonderful? I had to let it out a bit, but it feels just like old times! Hut two, hut two, hut two, hut two! [he breathes deeply and exhales; afterwards, fabric rips.] Whoops. Ooh, dear. No worries. I have a sewing kit in my backpack. |
| Queen Miranda | Hmm. From the look of it, you have a whole sewing machine in your backpack. |
| Baileywick | A groundhog is always prepared. I'll be just a moment, Your Majesties. |
| Princess Sofia | Mom... |
| Queen Miranda | Don't worry. Everything will be just fine. |
| Cut to the Buttercups at Pepper Tree Forest while waiting for Sofia. | |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Where's Sofia? |
| Baileywick softly plays his fanfare. | |
| Baileywick | Princess Sofia of Enchancia. |
| Sofia shows up and waves to the Buttercups. | |
| Ruby Hanshaw and Jade | Hi, Sofia! |
| Princess Sofia | Hey! [chuckles] |
| Helen Hanshaw | And who do we have here? |
| Princess Sofia | This is Baileywick. |
| Baileywick | I'll be joining you today, on the King's orders. |
| Helen Hanshaw | Ah. A royal escort. Well, as long as you keep up with the Buttercups, it's fine by me. |
| Baileywick | I was once a Groundhog Scout, so I'm quite at home in the wild. [a butterfly lands on his nose; he gasps and shoos it away.] |
| Helen Hanshaw | All righty, then. [blows whistle] Let's move out, Buttercups. And you too, groundhog. Let's put the "great" in the great outdoors. |
| Princess Sofia, Ruby Hanshaw, and Jade | Buttercups, Buttercups, make some room. Buttercups, Buttercups, watch us bloom! |

| Helen Hanshaw | Hold up, Buttercups. Time for a water break. |
| Baileywick | Finally. Oh! Oh, allow me, Princess. [he sets Sofia up on a chair.] |
| Princess Sofia | Oh! |
| Baileywick | It's your throne away from home. |
| Princess Sofia | It's okay, Baileywick. I can sit on the ground with everyone else. |
| Baileywick | Oh, I wouldn't hear of it! [he sets Sofia back up on the chair.] Now, how about some ice water? |
| Helen is concerned about Baileywick's behavior; Sofia chuckles nervously about it. | |
| Helen Hanshaw | Okay, Buttercups. Here's your first chance to earn a badge, the Birdhouse Badge. |
| Peg | Oh, goodie! |
| Ruby Hanshaw | The Birdhouse Badge! |
| Jade | What do we have to do? |
| Helen Hanshaw | You have to build a birdhouse out of twigs and bark. All righty, then, go to it. Buttercups, bloom! |
| The Buttercups spread out; Ruby searches for something in a tree bark. | |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Ow! |
| Princess Sofia | You okay? |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Oh, yeah, it's just a scratch. |
| Baileywick | [gasps] A scratch? "Not a single scratch"! Princess, allow me! Building birdhouses was my specialty when I was a Groundhog! |
| Princess Sofia | But, Baileywick, I can do it myself. |
| Baileywick | Yes, but why should you when I can do it for you? |
| Cut to Ruby and Jade making their birdhouses, followed by Meg and Peg. | |

| Peg | I'm going to make the best birdhouse! |
| Meg | I'm almost done! |
| Peg | Me too! |
| However, they pull the ropes too hard, causing their birdhouses to be dismantled. | |

| Peg | Meg! |
| Helen Hanshaw | So, how are we doing, Buttercups? |
| Baileywick | All done! [he brings the birdhouse he built for Sofia.] |
| Helen Hanshaw | Hmm. That is quite impressive, Sofia. But to earn a badge, each Buttercup must do the project by herself. |
| Princess Sofia | Yes, Mrs. Hanshaw, I know. |
| Baileywick | But I only helped a little. Sofia found the tree bark. |
| Helen Hanshaw | [observes Ruby and Jade's birdhouses] Mmm-hmm. Way to grow, Buttercups. You two have earned your Birdhouse Badges. |
| Princess Sofia | [sighs] I didn't even get a chance to try. |
| Ruby and Jade are provided their Birdhouse Badges. | |
| Jade | Now I only need one more badge to get my Sunflower Pin, just like you. |
| Princess Sofia | That's... great! |
| Peg | I know how you feel. We didn't get a badge, either. |
| Princess Sofia | You'll get one. Just keep trying. |
| Peg | We're going to. |
| Meg | You too, Sofia. |
| Princess Sofia | I will. [she sees Baileywick struggling with his equipment] I just have to make sure I do the next project by myself. |
| Helen Hanshaw | Hey there, Groundhog. Remember the Buttercups motto. "Buttercups, Buttercups, make some room." |
| Baileywick | "Buttercups, Buttercups, watch us bloom." |
| Helen Hanshaw | That's right. Well, it's time you made some room so your Buttercup can bloom. We can't do it all for them, or they'll never learn. Back on the trail, Buttercups. |
| Later, the Buttercups are stepping on stones to cross a river. | |
| Baileywick | Oh, allow me. [he rolls a red carpet across the river.] |
| Helen Hanshaw | Hold up there, Groundhog. [as she rolls back the carpet] Red carpets might work at the palace, but Buttercups can do this by themselves. |
| Baileywick | But it's so slippery! |
| Princess Sofia | Mmm. [as she cross the river] Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. |
| Helen Hanshaw | Is it now? |
| Baileywick | Hmm. Whoa! [he falls into the river.] |
| Helen Hanshaw | Groundhog overboard! Need a hand there? [he offers Baileywick her stick.] |
| Baileywick | Oh, thank you. |
| Baileywick gets pulled out and Helen returns his hat to him; a frog croaks, scaring him; when he takes his hat off, the frog heads back to the river. Cut to the Buttercups about to start their Wood-Gathering project. | |
| Helen Hanshaw | Here we go, Buttercups. Who can tell me what badge this is? |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Oh, I know! Wood-Gathering! |
| Helen Hanshaw | Exactly, Ruby dear. We need wood for our cookout. Every Buttercup who gathers a pile of wood gets a badge. All righty, let's pick up sticks! [The Buttercups spread out to find wood.] Be careful when you grab them, girls! Nobody likes a splinter! |
| Baileywick | [gasps] Splinters! |
| Cut to a squirrel munching on an acorn as Sofia arrives. | |
| Princess Sofia | Um, I hate to interrupt, Mr. Squirrel, but I could really use that log. |
| Squirrel | Oh, why certainly. Uh, just a moment while I finish up lunch. |
| Baileywick | Allow me, Princess. [he picks up the wood as the squirrel shrieks] I'll gather your wood in no time. |

| Baileywick arrives with many pieces of wood. | |
| Baileywick | Ahem. I'm just holding them for the Princess. |
| Helen Hanshaw | Mmm-mmm-mmm. It only counts when she does it by herself. [to Meg and Peg] Good job, you two. You earned your first Buttercup badge. |
| Meg and Peg | Our first badge! |
| Helen Hanshaw | And here's your badge, Ruby. |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Thanks, Mom. |
| Helen Hanshaw | Jade, you've earned your last badge, and that means you'll get a Sunflower Pin at the end of the hike. Well done! |
| Princess Sofia | Jade, you did it! You earned your Sunflower! |
| Ruby Hanshaw | And now I only need one more. |
| Princess Sofia | Just like me. |
| Ruby Hanshaw | You should talk to Baileywick. Ask him to stop helping you. |
| Princess Sofia | Hmm. Good idea. |
| Helen Hanshaw | All righty, then, Buttercups, you've got the logs, now cook your dogs. |
| Baileywick | [he picks up one of the hot dog buns for Sofia] Allow me. |
| Princess Sofia | Huh. I'm going to talk to him. |
| Baileywick | You're in luck, Sofia. I was the best hot dog cooker in my Groundhog troop. |
| Princess Sofia | Baileywick, I can do it myself. I can do all these things if you'd let me. And I have to if I'm going to earn my Sunflower Pin. |

| Baileywick | That would be delightful, Princess. |
| Cut to the Buttercups about to start searching for wildflowers. | |
| Helen Hanshaw | Buttercups, it's time to find out how well you know your wildflowers. Everyone must pick a bouquet of daisies and daffodils. But be careful not to touch any Meddlesome Myrtle. |
| Baileywick | Meddlesome Myrtle? |
| Ruby Hanshaw | My cousin touched Meddlesome Myrtle once, and he got a terrible rash. His hands turned red and itchy, and then his head blew up like a pumpkin. |
| Helen Hanshaw | But since you've all seen what Meddlesome Myrtle looks like in your Buttercup Manuals, you'll be fine. All righty, then, let's pick some flowers. |
| The Buttercups search for the flowers. | |
| Baileywick | What if she touches the Meddlesome Myrtle? |
| Peg | There. I've got enough daisies, but what do daffodils look like? Hmm. |
| Meg | There. I've got lots of daffodils, but what do daisies look like? Hmm. |
| Ruby then gathers the daisies and daffodils and shows them to Helen. | |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Mom! |
| Helen Hanshaw | Let's see. Daisies, check. Daffodils, check. Oh, you did it, Ruby. You got your final badge. I'm so proud of my girl. |
| Ruby Hanshaw | [as she heads to Sofia and Jade] I'm going to get my Sunflower Pin! [cheers] |
| Princess Sofia | That's great! I only need a few more daisies. |
| Baileywick | [as he arrives with Meddlesome Myrtle behind his back] Wait! I know I promised not to help, but I can't risk you touching that Meddlesome Myrtle, [as he shows the flowers to Sofia] so I picked these for you. |
| Princess Sofia | But your flowers! |
| Baileywick | I know. Aren't they lovely? [he sniffs them] |
| Princess Sofia | That's Meddlesome Myrtle! |
| Baileywick | What? [he gets the red rash] |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Look! There's the red rash! |
| Baileywick | Oh, dear. [he starts itching] |
| Ruby Hanshaw | And the itching! |
| Baileywick | Oh, my! [his face inflates] |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Yep, he's got the pumpkin head! |
| Baileywick | Ahhh! Oh, no! Meddlesome Myrtle! |
| Helen Hanshaw | Don't worry, [as she arrives with some essentials] help is on the way! |
| Baileywick is getting his hands bandaged up. | |
| Baileywick | Oh, it's so itchy. |
| Helen Hanshaw | I guess the Groundhogs never learned what Meddlesome Myrtle looks like. But you're going to be just fine. Itchy, but fine. |
| Princess Sofia | It'll be okay, Baileywick. [to Helen] Are you sure he's going to be all right? |
| Helen Hanshaw | I think so, Sofia, but we'd better head back to the castle, just in case. Buttercups, get ready to move out! |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Sofia, if we go back now, you won't earn your last badge. |
| Jade | And you won't get your Sunflower Pin. |
| Princess Sofia | I know. But we need to help Baileywick. |
| Helen Hanshaw | Uh-oh. |
| Princess Sofia | What is it? |
| Helen Hanshaw | [sees the twisty and steep trail] The trail is so twisty and steep, it'll be hard for Baileywick to climb down. |
| Princess Sofia | Hmm. Maybe there's another way to get down the mountain. What about this way? [sees another path] It doesn't look nearly as steep! |
| Meg | Oh, oh, oh! I know that slope! That's where we go sledding the winter. |
| Peg | It's super fun! |
| Princess Sofia | That's it! We can build a sled! |
| Peg | But there's no snow! |
| Princess Sofia | We don't need snow. We can just slide down the grass. |
| Ruby Hanshaw | That's a great idea, Sofia, but it'll take a long time to build the sled, don't you think? |
| Princess Sofia | We can do it! All we need to do is work together. We'll gather big pieces of wood, like we did for the campfire, and tie them together, like we did with the birdhouses. |
| Helen Hanshaw | [laughs] You're right. Well, then, go to it. |
| Princess Sofia | Great. Ruby, you and Jade collect twine. Meg, Peg, and I will gather wood. Come on! |
| Cut to Meg, Peg, and Sofia gathering wood. | |
| Princess Sofia | Now, let's tie them together. |
| Ruby, Jade, and Sofia tie the wood together; Meg and Peg are struggling to do so. | |
| Meg | Here, let me do it. |
| Peg | No, I can do it. |
| Princess Sofia | Hey, guys, I know you're both really excited about doing this. |
| Meg | I'm really excited! |
| Peg | I'm more excited! |
| Princess Sofia | But you'd get more done if you'd work together. That's the Buttercup way. Here, I'll show you. [ties the friendship knot] They're called friendship knots. Meg, you pull this end, then you pull here, Peg. [Meg and Peg make the knot] There! You did it! |
| Meg | Let's do more! |
| Cut to Helen and Baileywick. | |
| Helen Hanshaw | Looks like Sofia's doing just fine on her own, Baileywick. |
| Baileywick | Sofia's a remarkable princess. |
| Helen Hanshaw | She's more than that. She's a remarkable Buttercup. |
| Jade | All aboard! |
| The Buttercups board the sled with Sofia about to push. | |
| Princess Sofia | We'll push on the count of three! |
| Baileywick | Wait! In my backpack, I have helmets for everyone. Safety first! |
| As Baileywick itches himself, Sofia provides the helmets to everyone. | |
| Helen Hanshaw | [laughs] You are prepared! |
| Baileywick | A good Groundhog always is! |
| Princess Sofia | Okay, Buttercups, one, two... Push! |
| The Buttercups slide down the path. | |
| Jade | Ah! We made it! |
| Cut to Enchancia Castle, where Roland is concerned about Baileywick's health. | |
| King Roland II | Well, how does he look, Doctor? |
| Doctor | [exhales sharply] That's a nasty case of Meddlesome Myrtle, but he'll be all right, Your Majesty. |
| King Roland II | [sighs] Baileywick, thank you. |
| Baileywick | For what, Your Majesty? |
| King Roland II | For going through so much trouble to keep Sofia safe. |
| Baileywick | But she didn't need me at all. |
| King Roland II | Didn't need you? What do you mean? |
| Baileywick | I needed her. If not for Sofia's quick thinking, we wouldn't have gotten back so fast. You should have seen the way she took charge and led the other girls. It would have reminded you of... Well, yourself. |
| King Roland II | [chuckles] Well, I'll be! |
| Princess Sofia | Are you okay, Baileywick? |
| Baileywick | I'm going to be fine, Sofia. Itchy, but fine. |
| Helen Hanshaw | Glad to hear it, Groundhog. Now, if you don't mind, we have some Sunflower Pins to hand out. |
| Cut to Helen with the Buttercups. | |
| Helen Hanshaw | Girls, you worked hard to earn these pins, and you've made me proud. [she hands the Sunflower Pin to Ruby; Sofia, Meg, and Peg cheer.] We're not done yet. I have one last badge to present. |
| Ruby Hanshaw | [gasps] You do? |
| Jade | To who? |
| Ruby Hanshaw | Sofia. |
| Princess Sofia | Me? |
| Helen Hanshaw | Please step forward. Sofia, when you found a way to get Baileywick back home, you were a true leader, so you have earned the Leadership Badge. [she places the badge on Sofia's vest.] |
| Princess Sofia | That was my last badge! |
| Helen Hanshaw | Which means you too have earned your Sunflower Pin today! [she places the pin on Sofia.] |
| Meg, Peg, Jade, and Ruby Hanshaw | Yay! |
| Helen Hanshaw | Congratulations, all of you! [to Meg and Peg] That'll be you someday. |
| Queen Miranda | Sofia, I'm so proud of you. |
| King Roland II | And so am I. I never should've doubted you, Sofia, and I won't ever again. |
| Princess Sofia | Thanks, Dad. |
| Helen Hanshaw | Oh, Baileywick, we have something for you. The girls would like to make you an honorary Buttercup troop leader. [shows Baileywick the vest made for him] And you've already earned your first badge, the Being Prepared Badge. |
| Baileywick | I'm honored, Mrs. Hanshaw, but I'm afraid I can't put it on. |
| Princess Sofia | Oh, allow me. [she puts the vest on Baileywick] |
| Baileywick | I guess I'm not a Groundhog anymore. |
| Princess Sofia | Nope. You're a Buttercup. |
| Meg | All right! |
| Jade | Yay! |
| The Buttercups chase Baileywick around as the episode ends. |
