| Cut to the princes and princesses setting up for the event. | |
| Princess Sofia | Wow. Here, let me help. Oof. |
| Prince James | It's gonna be so much fun. We all get to dress up. |
| Princess Amber | And there's a costume contest. Oh, that's the best part! |
| Princess Sofia | Oh. Do you know what you're going to be? |
| Princess Hildegard | I'm going to be a fairy queen. |
| Princess Clio | I'm going to be a leopard. |
| Princess Amber | I'm going to be the winner, just like last year, and the year before. I love winning! |
| Princess Clio | And you're so good at it, Amber. |
| Flora | [offscreen] Good morning, children! |
| Fauna | [as the Three Good Fairies arrive] Oh, everything looks wonderfully spooky! [laughs] This year's ball is going to be just... Oh, splendiferous! |
| Flora | And to make it even more exciting, we're making a small change to the costume contest. |
| Fauna | This year, you'll all have to make the costumes yourselves! Doesn't that sound fun? |
| Princess Amber | Um, you mean, our handmaidens will have to make the costumes themselves? |
| Flora | No, dear. You are going to sew, stitch, and craft your own costume. And so will Clio, and Hildegard, and Sofia, all of you! [laughs] |
| Princess Hildegard | Us? Sew? |
| Flora | Good luck, everyone! |
| The fairies leave. | |
| Princess Sofia | I can't wait to get started! |
| Scene cuts to Amber breathing heavily with Clio fanning her. | |
| Princess Sofia | Amber? Are you okay? |
| Princess Amber | No! I am not okay! I've never made a costume myself. Sometimes, I don't even dress myself! |
| Princess Sofia | It's not that hard. Don't worry. |
| Princess Amber | Oh. |
| Cut to Enchancia Castle. | |
| Princess Amber | [sighs] Sofia's right. [scene cuts to Amber in her room] Making a costume can't be that hard. I mean, I'm a princess. I can do anything. [she tries to needle a thread to no luck. Sofia then enters.] |

| Princess Amber | Why wouldn't it be? |
| Princess Sofia | Um, if you need help sewing your costume, I could show you. |
| Princess Amber | Ah, so, the thread goes in that end. Oh! I'm doing just fine. Thank you, though. |
| Princess Sofia | Okay. Well, let me know if you change your mind. |
| Princess Amber | Okay! I will! Bye! Okay. Okay... okay, and... [she pricks her finger; later, Amber still has no luck making her costume.] This is impossible! |
| Queen Miranda | [offscreen] Oh, what a beautiful costume, Sofia! It looks just like a swan! |
| Princess Sofia | [offscreen] Mmm-hmm. But silver! |
| Princess Amber | She made a silver swan? |
| Queen Miranda | [offscreen] Is that a swizzle stitch? Where'd you learn that? |
| Princess Amber | A swizzle stitch? What's a swizzle stitch? |
| Prince James | Look out! Dragon coming through! |
| Cut to Miranda and Sofia, the latter having made a swan costume. | |
| Princess Sofia | Mom, you taught me how to do a swizzle stitch before I could walk. |
| Prince James | Whoa! Awesome job, Sofia! Check out my dragon costume. |
| Princess Sofia | Ooh, scary! But, shouldn't there be a tail? |
| Prince James | Oh, this is just the front part of the dragon. [as Amber watches] Zandar's the back. So, we each only had to make half a costume. Brilliant, right? |
| Princess Amber | [gasps] Sofia! You... You made that? |
| Queen Miranda | I know. It's beautiful, isn't it? |
| Prince James | It's even better than my dragon. Good luck toppin' that. |
| Princess Amber | Hmph! [she walks out of the room and comes up with an idea] Who needs luck when you have a sorcerer? |
| Cut to Cedric and Wormwood playing checkers; the latter wins. | |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | [groans] Cheater. |
| Princess Amber | Cedric! |
| Cedric and Wormwood hear Amber and get scared. | |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Princess Amber. What are you doing here? |
| Princess Amber | I need your help, Cedric. What else would I be doing here? |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | And I would love nothing more than to assist you. But alas, I'm terribly busy right now. |
| Princess Amber | [scoffs] Don't worry, this won't take long. All I need is a magic spell that will give me the most amazing butterfly costume in the whole world. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | You want my help with a costume! |
| Princess Amber | Not just any costume, the best costume. For the school ball. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Oh, right, the ball. Now, I had heard you were supposed to make that costume yourself. |
| Princess Amber | Ugh! If I did that, I'd never win! You have to help me, Cedric. I'd do anything to win that contest. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | "Anything", you say? On second thought, perhaps I can carve out a teensy bit of time for you after all. |
| Princess Amber | Thank you. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Oh, moment, give me a moment, give me a moment. Ah, yes. Now, take these magic crystals, sprinkle them on right before the ball, say the words "lepidop leonitus", and the most glorious butterfly costume will appear. |

| Cedric the Sorcerer | My pleasure, Princess Amber. Ta-ta. Wormy! I have just come up with the most brilliant plan to get Sofia's amulet, and Amber is the key! |

| Cut to the All Hallows Eve Costume Ball, where Sofia and James enter in their respective costumes. | |

| Princess Clio | [As Sofia enters in her swan costume] Sofia, you look so great! |

| Princess Clio | Really? I'm supposed to be a leopard, but all my spots fell off. |
| Princess Sofia | Not all of them. There's one. Oh, no! You're still the best leopard here, Clio. |
| Princess Clio | Thanks. It's the first time I made a costume myself. I had fun, but it was not easy. |
| Prince Jin | It was easy for me. I just glued some old pieces of armor together, and... Ta-da! Whoa! [as he falls] I'm okay. |

| Princess Sofia | I don't know. She wants it to be a big surprise. |

| Princess Amber | This better work. Lepidop leonitis! [she sprinkles the crystals on her; she magically changes into a butterfly costume] Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! |
| Amber enters the school; cut back to the All Hallows Eve Costume Ball. | |
| Flora | Time to judge the costumes! Oh, it's delightful! Very nice! Oh, lovely costume, Sofia! |

| Prince Jin | Whoa! Ah. [scene cuts to him, and it is revealed he fell back] I... I'm okay. [Khalid helps him up and places his helmet back forward.] |

| James and Zandar collide into each other and complete their dragon costume. | |

| Flora | Oh, I see. Thank you, boys. All right, and the winner is... Princess Amber! |
| Princess Amber | I'm the winner! I'm the winner! I'm the winner! |
| Princess Sofia | Congratulations, Amber! |
| Princess Amber | Thank you! Thank you all so much. |
| Amber walks past everyone else and gets the trophy. Later, she brings it to her room and places it on the stash of other trophies. | |
| Princess Amber | Another prize for me. Now, how do I get this thing off? Hmm? [she tries to remove the costume to no luck.] Maybe there's a zipper. No. [she tries to remove the wings but fails.] Oh, no! [as she runs, her costume's wings cause her to fly.] Did I just fly? |
| Amber runs down the hallway; cut to Cedric and Wormwood sleeping. | |
| Princess Amber | Cedric! |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | [gasps] King me! Princess Amber? |
| Princess Amber | Something's wrong with the costume! It won't come off! The costume! I... I think it's real! |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | No! |
| Princess Amber | Yes! |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Come here, let Cedric have a look. [To Wormwood] I knew it wouldn't come off. It's all part of my plan. |
| Princess Amber | Ow! |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Why, you're right! I can't imagine what went wrong! |
| Princess Amber | You have to help me! |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Oh, of course, of course. Right away! Hmm? [looks in his spellbook] Hmm-hmm, mmm-hmm, mmm-hmm, mmm-hmm. Mmm. A-ha! There is one potion that can undo the spell and remove the costume. |
| Princess Amber | What is it? |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Well, it requires two dragon eggs, four griffin feathers, and... a gigantic purple jewel. Now, I have plenty of feathers and eggs, but wherever can I find a gigantic purple jewel? Oh, I've got it! Princess Sofia's amulet! That jewel is purple-y perfect! So, if you can just get me your sister's amulet, I can surely fix your little problem. |
| Princess Amber | Uh, I don't know. She really loves that amulet. Isn't there some other way? |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Nope, none. |
| Princess Amber | Well, will she get it back? |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Oh, I'm afraid not. See, I have to use it in the potion. |
| Princess Amber | Oh. Wait! Maybe I could go to the fairies instead. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I wouldn't do that. Then you'd have to tell them you cheated and used magic to make your costume. |
| Princess Amber | Oh. I definitely don't want to do that. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | You see? This is the best way! |
| Princess Amber | But how would I even get the amulet? I can't just ask Sofia for it. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Oh, Amber, you're a very smart princess, the smartest princess in the castle. Or at least I thought you were. |
| Princess Amber | I am! |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Well, then, I'm sure you'll think of a way to get the amulet. |
| Princess Amber | I'll get it. |
| Cedric the Sorcerer | Oh, wonderful! Then all of my -- I mean... your problems will be solved! Now hurry. Run along. [Amber leaves; to Wormwood] Oh, Wormy! The Amulet of Avalor, the most powerful object in Enchancia, will soon be mine! And once I have it in my hands, I'll finally have the power to take over the kingdom! We can't let anything go wrong now. Follow Amber and make sure she gets that amulet. |
| Wormwood caws affirmatively and flies out. Cut to the hallways of the castle; Amber is still flying nonstop. | |
| Princess Amber | Ahhh! These wings really work. Ahhh! I better get that amulet before I take off and don't come back down. Ahhh! Sofia. I have a great idea! |
| Princess Sofia | Amber? Why are you still wearing your costume? |
| Princess Amber | That's my idea. I thought it would be fun to dress up for school today. And I was hoping you'd dress up with me. I'll wear my award-winning butterfly costume and you can wear my pixie costume from last year. |
| Princess Sofia | That's really pretty, but I don't -- |
| Princess Amber | Of course, you'll have to take your amulet off to get the costume on. Here, let me help. [Amber is about to take the amulet, but then...] |
| Prince James | [offscreen] It's time for school! [scene cuts to James watching Sofia and Amber] Okay, Amber, you won. We get it. You don't need to rub it in. Sheesh! |
| Princess Sofia | We'd better go. I'll dress up with you on another day, okay? |
| Amber sighs; cut to Sofia and Amber exiting their coach to head to Royal Prep. | |
| Prince Zandar | Why is she wearing her costume to school? |
| Wormwood caws, observing everything. | |
| Princess Hildegard | Clio, Amber's still wearing her costume! |
| Princess Clio | Um, Amber, why are you still wearing your costume? |
| Flora | That is an excellent question, Clio. Amber? |
| Princess Amber | Oh, well... You see, I love All Hallows Eve so much, I thought I'd celebrate it a little bit longer. [chuckles nervously] |
| Flora | Well, I appreciate your spirit, but tomorrow I expect to see you in your proper school clothes. |
| Princess Amber | Yes, Miss Flora. [as the other students enter, Amber's wings cause her to fly to the entrance.] What? These wings! |
| Flora | Everything all right? |
| Princess Amber | Yeah! Just great. Ow! |
| Cut to gym class. | |
| Princess Amber | How am I going to get that amulet? [sighs] Oh, Sofia? |
| Princess Sofia | Hi, Amber. Shouldn't you be in gym clothes? |
| Princess Amber | Never mind that. Can you show me how to go upside-down on the bars? It's really hard for me! |
| Princess Sofia | Oh. Sure. |
| Sofia then goes upside-down on the second bar. | |
| Princess Amber | Wow! That's amazing! Okay, now just hold it so I can see exactly what you're doing. |

| Princess Amber | Just another second. [she tries to get the amulet; Sofia quickly dismounts.] |
| Princess Sofia | Amber, what are you doing? |
| Princess Amber | Nothing! |

| Cut to the outside of Royal Prep, where Wormwood is watching Sofia and Amber, the latter purposely spilling a drink on Sofia's dress. | |

| Princess Amber | Sorry! I tripped. Oh, I'm so clumsy. And I've completely soaked your amulet. Here, let me take it to the washroom to clean it up. |
| Princess Sofia | Okay, Amber, what's going on? |
| Princess Amber | What do you mean? |
| Princess Sofia | You never trip, and you never spill anything. Are you trying to take my amulet? |
| Princess Amber | No! Why would I do that? [flies up] Ahhh! |
| Princess Sofia | Amber, you're flying? |
| Princess Amber | I know! Help me! |
| Princess Sofia | How can your costume make you fly? |
| Princess Amber | Because it's not a costume! It's real! |

| Princess Amber | [flies again] Ahhh! |

| Princess Amber | I didn't make my costume. I used one of Cedric's magic spells. But something went wrong, and now the wings won't come off! It's like I'm part-butterfly! And Cedric says the only way to undo the spell is with your amulet. |

| Princess Amber | I know it's a lot to ask. |
| Princess Sofia | More than you know! |
| Princess Amber | But Cedric says without it, I'll have these wings forever! I have no choice! |
| Princess Sofia | It's just... I told Dad I would never take it off. |
| Princess Amber | Ahhh! |
| Princess Sofia | Amber! [giving in] ...It doesn't matter why I need the amulet. You need it more. If it's the only way you can get better, then it's yours. |
| Princess Amber | Really? You would do that for me? |
| Princess Sofia | Of course. You're my sister. |
| Wormwood is happy to hear that. | |
| Princess Amber | Even though you'll never get it back? |

| Princess Amber | It's just not fair! I'm the one who lied and cheated. You shouldn't have to give up your amulet, because I made a mistake. Thank you so much for offering, but I can't take it from you. [Suddenly, Wormwood takes the amulet] Wormwood! No! Come back! I don't want to give it to Cedric anymore! |
| Princess Sofia | [offscreen] He's not listening! |
| Princess Amber | I'm so sorry, Sofia! This is all my fault. But I'm going to get your amulet back. |
| Princess Sofia | How? He's flying away! |
| Princess Amber | He's not the only one who can fly! [flies up] Whoa! Whoa! This is harder than it looks! |
| Princess Sofia | Hold on, Amber! I'm coming to help you! |
| Wormwood | Uh-oh. |
| Princess Amber | You can fly, but you can't hide! |
| Princess Sofia | Minimus! I need your help! [Minimus whinnies] Oh, I can't understand you, because Wormwood took my amulet! But we're going to get it back. [hops aboard] Come on! |

| Princess Sofia | We've got to catch him! [Sofia and Amber then chase Wormwood, who enters Royal Prep through one of its windows.] He's getting away! |
| Princess Amber | Maybe not. [she enters through the window.] |
| Princess Sofia | Whoa! I know. We can get in through there! [Sofia and Minimus enter through the school's main entrance; Amber is still chasing Wormwood with Sofia and Minimus giving chase.] |
| Prince Zandar | [seeing Wormwood] Was that a bird? |
| Princess Clio | [seeing Minimus and Sofia] Was that a flying horse? |
| Princess Hildegard | [seeing Amber] Was that... Amber? |
| Princess Amber | You go that way, I'll go this way, and we'll corner him. |
| Princess Sofia | I hope it works. |
| Flora | Oh! Oh, my! |
| Wormwood | Uh-oh. [he drops the amulet] |
| Princess Sofia | Amber! Catch it! |
| Princess Amber | [grabs the amulet] Got it! |
| Princess Sofia | Shut the window, Minimus! [Amber slams the window on Wormwood; he smacks against the glass] You did it, Amber! [Wormwood flies away, ready to face the worst from Cedric] |

| Princess Sofia | [as she puts the amulet back on] Thank you, but... how are you going to get rid of your wings now? Maybe we should take my amulet to Mr. Ceedric. |
| Princess Amber | No. There's another way. [she walks up to the dais] Miss Flora, I have a confession. |
| Flora | And I can't wait to hear it. |
| Princess Amber | I... Am a butterfly. |
| Everyone is shocked to hear the news. | |
| Prince James | What? |
| Prince Jin | A real butterfly? |
| Princess Amber | I used magic to make my costume instead of making it myself. |
| Fauna | Are you saying you cheated?! |
| Flora | Why ever would you do such a thing?! |
| Princess Amber | Because, I was jealous of Sofia. |
| Princess Sofia | You were? Why? |
| Princess Amber | You had such a great costume. And I wanted to win the contest. But I'm sorry. I shouldn't be jealous of you, Sofia. I should be grateful, because... you would do anything for me. |
| Flora | Well, we're very disappointed in you, Amber. |
| Fauna | Yes. Very, very disappointed. |
| Flora | But happy to see that you've learned a few things from the experience. |
